Ghanaian Actors Joined Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to Celebrate Founders Day

Ghanaian actors, Chris Attoh and John Dumelo joined their countrymen and women to celebrate the 105th birthday of the country’s first President and most influential political figure, Kwame Nkrumah.

An excited Attoh wrote on Twitter: ‘Morning all! Happy founders day, we celebrate a great leader, Dr Kwame Nkrumah have a great day all, God bless the United States of Africa’ while Dumelo subtly cast doubts on the independence of the country in his post.

‘Sometimes I wonder if Kwame Nkrumah should have fought for Ghana’s independence at all. After almost 6 decades of independence would it be right for me to ask if Ghana is independent? Government after government still rely on foreign aid.the IMF, world bank and others are giving us conditions under which we can run our own country. Is that independence?’ ‘Happy birthday Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Your vision and ideas gave Africa hope, but that hope is not lost yet. One day there will be a united Africa….one day’, Dumelo concluded.

The celebration, which has being instituted as the Founders Day since 2010 ,is usually marked with lectures, symposiums and other programmes to highlight Nkrumah’s achievements and legacy. This year’s edition kicked off since Sunday, September 14, 2014 and saw the launch and reprint of The Big Lie, a book written by Nkrumah in 1969.

We can only wish them happy founders day...LOL
